Destin Nightlife

In case the club/bar scene doesn't fit your lifestyle, there remains plenty to do.

While the beach means sun and surf, a nightime beach visit opens up different perspectives. A long beachwalk often introduces you to various creatures such as crabs. You'll find seashells, sand dollars, and whatever else the Gulf of Mexico has left behind. You can sit on the beach, look at a black ocean and listen to the surf (without the typical daytime distractions).

Unfortunately, the state park beaches close at sunset, but there remains many miles of beach to enjoy. If you're in the area, walk the beaches at Seaside. Afterwards, drive over to Miss Lucille's Gossip Parlor, 45 Town Center Loop, Santa Rosa Beach, 850-267-2522 and enjoy an ice cream, cookie or beer.

Don't forget a visit to the Harbor at night. You can walk the docks, breathe in today's catch, and stop in at AJ's Club Bimini, located 1/4 mile E of Destin Bridge, 850-837-1913 for a nightcap.

The Village at Baytowne Wharf and Destin Commons are both wonderful evening jaunts. Rum Runners in Baytowne is the top spot for live music and a lively crowd just about every night of the week. The house band takes requests and can literally play just about every song. You can shop, eat and people watch. While at Destin Commons, you can take in a movie at Rave Motion Pictures, too. Rave features 14 theatres with up-to-the-minute amenities such as stadium seating.

If music and revelry are more your style, the Funky Blues Shack comes highly recommended. Located at 707 Hwy 98 E., 850-654-3839 (located by McDonald's), the beer's cold and the blues bands are hot.

If you're looking for a full-on nightclub, there are a few to choose from that stay open until the early hours of the morning. Club Aqua at the foot of the HarborWalk Village right below Snapper's is the most popular at the time of writing. Nightown near the Destin Bridge and Club Overboard on 98 are viable other options. Overboard has recently hosted several large bands including Fuel, Three 6 Mafia, 2LiveCrew and our personal favorite...Vanilla Ice!
